Eating for YOUR good health! A few of our Super Foods will help YOU to live longer!
Apples - "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." sweet, crunchy and great tasting, apples benefit the brain. Packed in it's own natural wrapper, it's a perfect snack food. Pectin is a form of soluble fiber than lowers both blood pressure and glucose levels. It can also lower the levels of LDL, or "bad" cholesterol in the body. Pectin, like other forms of fiber, helps maintain the health of the digestive system. Apples are an excellent source of pectin. Another apple nutrient, boron supports strong bones and a healthy brain. Quercetin, a flavonoid, this nutrient shows promise for reducing the risk of various cancers, including cancers in the lungs and breast. It may also reduce free radical damage. Free radicals develop when atoms in the body's cells have unpaired electrons, which can lead to damage to different parts of the cell, including DNA. Quercetin may neutralize free radical damage, which has been implicated in a variety of age-related health problems, including Alzheimer's disease. Vitamin C boosts immunity, which helps maintain overall health. Apples are rich in a variety of phytonutrients, including vitamins A and E and beta carotene. These compounds fight damage from free radicals and can have a profound affect on health, including reducing the risk of heart disease, diabetes and asthma.

Bananas - You should be eating these every day. They help clean you out, and can help prevent cancer. Adding them to your diet can reduce cholesterol. Ready for a snack, why not eat a banana?

Blueberries - besides the wonderful taste, blues provide excellent benefits for the brain. One cup a day can lessen the effects of Alzheimers disease and damage from a stroke. Rich in antioxidants is a perfect snack food.

Beans - Both canned and dried are full of antioxidants, protein and fiber they help prevent cancer. Adding beans to your diet can reduce cholesterol and can slow sugar levels for diabetics. Ready for a snack, why not eat lots of Hummus?

Blueberries - besides the wonderful taste, blues provide excellent benefits for the brain. One cup a day can lessen the effects of Alzheimers disease and damage from a stroke. Rich in antioxidants is a perfect snack food.

Broccoli - Contains vitamins C, A, Beta Carotene and Fiber.

Cabbage - Red and Green Cabbage is full of sulphoraphane glucosinalate, an antioxidant that helps prevent cancer. It also helps prevent breast cancer. Think about coleslaw with your next BBQ.

Carrots - 2 carrots every other day provide enough beta carotene to reduce stroke risk by half for men who already have symptoms of heart disease.

Chocolate - Especially dark chocolate, rich in antioxidants and it can lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol. It is thought to have a positive mood altering affect.

Garlic - Fights off misquitos and it's good for your blood system, we always keep minced dried garlic, in the cabinet so when we run out of fresh garlic, we can still add it to pasta salad and marinara sauce.

Tomatoes - Fresh tomatoes are wonderful and supply many vitamins. Cooked tomatoes are high in cancer fighting lycopene. Canned tomatoes, ketchup, tomato paste, sun dried tomatoes, and tomato sauce are all good sources of lycopene.

Walnuts - Despite what many believe, fat can be good. These are high in Omega 3 fatty acids. They help reduce the risk of heart disease and hypertension. All nuts can provide benefits to the body. We eat lots of peanuts and cashews.

Whole Grains - Carbohydrates are very important in a healthy diet, especially whole grains. They provide phytonutrients that help reduce the risk of heart disease, strokes and diabetes.

Wild Salmon - Fresh or canned is a great source of Omega 3 fatty acids. It helps reduce blood pressure and lower bad cholesterol as well as reduce heart disease. It can supply many vitamins. We like fish cakes or grilled or on a salad.

Tea (green and black) The overall antioxidant power of black tea is the same as green tea," "but green tea does have ECGC, a powerful antioxidant that is quite special." A recent Japanese study on green tea found that men who drank green tea regularly had lower cholesterol than those who didn't. Researchers in Spain and the United Kingdom have also shown that ECGC can inhibit the growth of cancer cells. For a double health whammy ~ replace the corn syrup sodas with tea and honey.

Yogurt - is a better source of protein and calcium than milk. Make sure the yogurt contains live and active cultures, these help boost the immune system. Use it as a base for dips, dressings and of course blender smoothies. For great recipes, click here!
